Doreen (Eastman) Heller

SCARBOROUGH – Mrs. Doreen (Eastman) Heller, 69, wife of Harry Heller, entered her eternal resting place on Oct. 6, 2022, after fighting a heroic and courageous battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.

Doreen was born in Portland, on Oct. 20, 1952, daughter of Noice and Barbara (Kelley) Eastman and stepdaughter to Lois (Johnson) Eastman. She went to Westbrook Schools and graduated from Westbrook College with a BS Degree in Medical Technology. She worked at Maine Medical Center, before deciding to stay home when her children were young, and starting an in-home daycare for over 10 years, where she lovingly cared for many children. When she returned to work outside of the home, it was at NECS and she retired in 2016 from Coastal Women’s Healthcare. Her favorite way to spend her time was with her family, spending time at the beach, working in her flower and vegetable gardens and watching sunsets. She had a heart for traveling, and was blessed to take many trips, where she fell in love with her favorite place, St. Maarten.

She left a legacy of her strong faith and love for the Lord. She regularly attended Eastpoint Church in South Portland.

Besides her husband of 44 years, she is survived by her three children, Lisa (Heller) Beeler and her husband Michael, Ryan Heller and his wife Aubrey and Brittany (Heller) Pond and her husband John and six grandchildren, Bryce and Grace Beeler and Connor, Karoline, Dylan and James Heller. Her stepmother Lois (Johnson) Eastman, one sister, Julie Weeks and brother-in-law David of Portland and several nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to a time of visitation at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home on Thursday October 13, from 5-7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Oct. 14, at Eastpoint Christian Church, 345 Clarks Pond Way in South Portland followed by a reception from 12-2 p.m. Internment will be at a later date at Brooklawn Memorial Park on Congress St. in Portland.
