Patrick M. Kidder

Patrick M. Kidder 1973 – 2022 YELM, Wash. – Patrick M. Kidder, 48, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 5, 2022, at his home in Yelm, Wash. He was born on Oct. 14, 1973, to Robert “Mike” and Donna (Hall) Kidder. Pat grew up in Topsham where he thrived as a youth and young man. He was an active member for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. In 1990 h e earned the rank of Eagle Scout and in 1991 he became a Vigil Honor Member with Order of the Arrow, Madakawanda Lodge #271, Pinetree Council. He graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in 1992. He loved spending time giving back to the community, honing his golf and billiards skills and hanging out with his friends. He was definitely a witty prankster who loved to get your goat. He also loved spending time with his family at home working on his cars, and showing them all over New England as a member of The Knuckle Busters Car Club. A few years after high school Pat joined the U.S. Army (1996). During his service, h e was a combat veteran who had several duty stations that included serving multiple tours overseas and in Iraq. Amongst his numerous medals and commendations he received the Army Commendation Medal; the Army Achievement Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters; the Army Good Conduct Medal with six knots and the War on Terrorism Service Medal. In April of 2000 Pat married Mary “Shelly” Pennington. They were married for the past 22 years. In 2016 he retired with 20 years of active service, after which, he worked in security over the past few years. He enjoyed spending his days off with his dogs, going bowling, golfing and creating many woodworking master pieces for his blooming side business, PK Woodworks. Patrick is survived by his spouse, “Shelly”, in Yelm, Wash.; his stepson, Michael (Jaqueline) Malek and t heir two children, in Yelm, Wash.; his mother and father, Mike and Donna Kidder in Tucson, Ariz.; h is sister, Amanda Kidder and her two children in Red Rock, Ariz.; along with many extended family members and friends throughout New England, New York and the East Coast, including his military family abroad. He will be forever missed and loved by all who were blessed to know him and spend time with him. A closed viewing was held for immediate family on July 13 near his home in Yelm, Wash. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined. Condolences can be sent to the family directly. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in honor of SSGT Patrick M. Kidder.
