Kathryn Marie Ferrante

PORTLAND – Kathryn Marie Ferrante, (nee Klein), 60, Portland, Maine, formerly of Ventnor, N.J. We are saddened and pained by the sudden, unexpected loss of our beloved sister Kathryn.

Kathryn was the sixth child of nine, born to Edwin and Frances Klein, of Ventnor, N.J. Her youth, like most of the Ventnor-downbeach area, was ‘magical’. She excelled in all areas of life because she exuded joy, goodwill, honesty, and a beautiful sense of humor, wherever she was. Kathryn was a tremendous competitor and incredibly tough when she needed to be, those qualities were enveloped in her genuine goodness and kindness. It was an aura around her. You could feel and sense it.

Kathryn’s personal and professional accomplishments were many.

While she dedicated 30-plus years to her industry, (insurance), it was the lifelong friends/chosen family whom she met through her work, she cherished the most.

Kathryn was a straight-A student and graduated with honors from Atlantic City High School, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Temple University. Kathryn excelled in athletics, and was especially proud of her accomplishments in softball, playing at Temple University, and for the semi pro team, Adamuci Oilers. Kathryn met the love of her life Anthony in 2004 and they have been inseparable ever since. Kathryn was beyond proud of her beautiful daughter Kathryn Crozier Breed (KC) and her beautiful son, William. She had a special, unique bond with both of her children.

There was a time, early in Kathryn’s professional career, where she was bringing home the bacon and frying it up in a pan, all while raising two beautiful children; one of whom, William, is autistic. Kathryn became a fierce fighter for autistic rights and care back in the ’90s long before the issue came into many family’s homes across America. Her efforts resulted in decency and respect from the medical community and government agencies in the caring for those dealing with autism.

Kathryn was predeceased by her father and mother, brothers, Edwin, Jr. (Ted) and Francis Martin, as well as aunts and uncles. Left to keep Kathryn’s memory alive are husband Anthony, son William, and daughter KC, sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Lubic, Marylane Logan, and Kristin; brothers Daniel (Elizabeth), Kenneth (Joan-Marie), and Anthony (Devin), along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at the A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Avenue, Portland, Maine. A mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress Street, Portland, Maine.
