CAPE ELIZABETH – Lorna Preston, 93, of Cape Elizabeth passed away at a local South Portland nursing home on Monday, Oct. 17, 2022. Lorna was born in South Portland to Joseph Jones II and Cynthis Stanton Jones on Dec. 21, 1930. She graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1948.

Lorna married Waldo Preston, Sr. on Dec. 24, 1949. As time went on, they started Preston Contractors. Lorna managed the bookkeeping and the phones.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family She especially liked taking her children to Kettle Cove Beach in Cape Elizabeth. Her interests included reading, researching family genealogy, camping, sharing recipes, and listening to talk shows and music on the radio. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and loved to take a ride out around the Cape.

Lorna was predeceased by her loving husband, Waldo Preston, Sr.; son, Waldo Preston, Jr.; and granddaughter, Kelly May Preston; her parents; brothers Joseph Jones III and Charles Jones.

Survivors include children Cynthis Mailman of South Paris, Frederick Preston of South Portland, Andrea Preston of Cape Elizabeth, Isabel Gothrow and husband, Steven Gothrow of Biddeford, sister-in-law, Sharon Jones of Falmouth; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at Riverside Cemetery, 533 Spurwink Ave. in Cape Elizabeth.
