Marion A. Goff

NORTH YARMOUTH – Marion A. Goff, 98, passed away on Oct. 30, 2022.

Born in Augusta, Nov. 19, 1923 the daughter of Olga Peacock Averill and Frank S. Averill.

Marion graduated from Deering High School in Portland. There she met Vernon Goff, her love and best friend. They were together for 63 years. Vern passed away in 2002. They moved to North Yarmouth in 1946. Marion was involved in the North Yarmouth Congregational Church in various positions, the best as Church School Teacher.

Marion and Vern purchased a hardware store in Yarmouth. They worked together with their son. Butch. They also opened a clothing store in Yarmouth.

Marion leaves behind Vernon “Butch” and his wife Jean, Ernest “Ernie” and his wife Mary, Cynthia “Cindy” Libby and her husband Mark. Her grandchildren Stephen and his wife Nipaphorn (Aom), Christopher and his wife Lauren, Amanda and her partner Tyler; and many nieces, nephews; and friends.

She was predeceased by brothers Ernest, Frand, and Gerald, sisters Jane and Gloria; and grandson Vernon III “Rusty”.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
