Patrick Ricci

MATTAMISCONTIS TOWNNSHIP – Patrick Anthony Ricci, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. He was born May 8, 1944, in Portland, the son of James and Julia (Geary) Ricci of Hampshire Street.

He attended Cathedral Catholic Schools in Portland. One of Pat’s first jobs was unloading rail cars full of sawdust that would later be used to pack and store ice blocks. Pat served in the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in Vietnam. In the late 1970s he worked for Romano’s Construction where he got a chance to work with his dad. He was gifted a dump truck from his father and would spend the remainder of his life being self employed doing foundations, excavations, and snowplowing. This work kept Pat busy just about 7 days a week, but he still made sure to have time for family get togethers and to go RV camping and going on the houseboat on Casco Bay on weekends. Pat was a loving father and put his family first. He also had a true love for animals and enjoyed feeding the bears in his gravel pit and was avid about keeping his bird feeders full. Pat’s passion in life was working and meeting new people. He was a very giving man that would help anyone in a time of need. Pat loved to make people laugh with his tough and quick-witted sense of humor that would keep everyone in his presence on their toes! He also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to the Columbia Club.

Patrick is survived by three children – Tammy Ricci, Jeri Ricci, and Anthony Ricci; four grandchildren, Megan, Jasmine, D.J., and Logan; a sister Evelyn Butts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Patrick was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Ricci, and two sons, both named Patrick A. Ricci, Jr., siblings Ann Guimond, Delores Sylvester, Ursula Carson, Helen Guimond, Mary Ricci, and James Ricci.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kelly and Dave Butler, Patricia Burke, and Randy Hawke for making it possible for Patrick to spend his final months at home, comfortable and on his toes, through his final illness. Their efforts are much appreciated and have not gone unnoticed.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 p.m., Saturday, November 26 at the Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, 7 Lee Road Lincoln, and 2-4 p.m., Sunday, November 27 at Conroy-Tully-Walker Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
