Henry Peter Latini

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Henry Peter Latini was born on Nov. 23, 1924, in Portland and died at the age of 98 on Jan. 29, 2023 in Okatie, S.C.

Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty; their daughter, Mary Celeste; brother, Arthur Latini, and sister, Gloria Babin.

He is survived by his sister, Elena Varanelli; two daughters, Lisa Ann (Dave) Kirkendall of Seattle, Wash. and Monica Louise (Alan) King of Kalaheo, Hawaii; and three grandsons, Joseph Kirkendall, Andrew King and Maximilian King.

Henry graduated from Portland Junior College and the University of Miami where he earned a B.A. in Psychology. He served as a B-24 Radio Airman in the Pacific in WWII, and as a Special Agent in the FBI from 1951-1979.

He and Betty moved from Cape Elizabeth to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1983 where Henry owned and operated a property management company. They relocated to South Carolina in 2007 and spent summers on Peaks Island with their family. Henry lived a life of impact and was eager to share his wisdom. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and member of the Catholic Church, and an admirable member of the Greatest Generation. In his careers, Henry was a distinguished professional. His free time was filled with gardening, writing, drawing and cooking. His presence will be greatly missed.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Portland on July 1.
