John J. Pyles

SCARBOROUGH – John J. Pyles, 78, of Scarborough, passed away on Monday Feb. 6, 2023 at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.

John was born in Baltimore, Md. on Sept. 11, 1944, the son of William and Evelyn Pyles. John was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He married the love of his life, Linda Barchard, on Dec. 3, 1966. John was the father of three and the grandfather of two.

John was in the National Guard for six years in Baltimore, Md. He worked at Locke Office Products/IKON Office Solutions for many years. He decided later in life to change careers and studied for and obtained his pharmacy technician license.

Anyone who knew John would describe him as kind, sentimental, funny, and a man who truly loved his family with all his heart. John enjoyed fishing, golf, watching sports (especially the Patriots!), playing cards with friends and family and his many years living on Mussel Cove in Falmouth with his wonderful neighbors.

John was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Linda Pyles; and his son, John Wilson Pyles.

John is survived by his daughter, Julie Howland and her husband Matt of Brunswick, a son, James Pyles and his partner Craig Bellgraph of Scarborough; two LOVED grandchildren, Rex and Gracie Howland; his sister, Shirley Pyles of Falmouth; his nieces Susie, Christine and Betsy; his Belgian “family”; and his dog, Darwin.

John’s family misses him dearly, but they know that he is reunited with sweet Linda, who he missed every day.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at http://www.LindquistFuneralHome.com for the Pyles family.
