BIDDEFORD — The Planning Department wants to hear from residents on draft chapters of the updated Biddeford Comprehensive Plan.

By visiting https://our.biddefordmaine.org/en/projects/comp-plan1, the public can access draft chapters of the plan, land use maps, and a recent presentation from the Planning Department. The presentation provides background information on each chapter and provides a status update on the Comprehensive Plan Update project.

An additional six chapters – Demographics; Public Engagement; Transportation and Mobility; Historic, Cultural and Archaeological Resources; Recreation and Open Space; and Marine Resources — have been made available for public review. The Planning Department is also continuing to accept feedback through the platform on draft chapters released in January.

Feedback can be entered into a simple survey form at the bottom of the webpage, said city spokeswoman Danica Lamontagne. Multiple form submissions can be made to reflect feedback on the different sections of the plan.

“The Comprehensive Plan will guide the City’s development over the next ten years, and it is important that residents have ample opportunity for their desires to be reflected in that plan,” said Eric Freeman, the City of Biddeford’s Assistant City Planner. “We are reviewing the feedback that has been provided on the six draft chapters released in January and are looking forward to receiving additional input as we continue to move towards finalization of the plan.”

A full draft document for community feedback is expected to be released in March, with the Comprehensive Plan update anticipated to be presented to the City Council for adoption this spring.
