PORTLAND – Daniel Rene Boisvert died at Maine Medical Center in the late afternoon on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023. He was 67. He had recovered from a kidney transplant several years before and was looking forward to many more good moments in life. But a new pain visited him the past couple of weeks. Dan didn’t have the time to learn to pronounce “adenocarcinoma cancer” before it took his life away. But Dan left this earth for God’s home surrounded by his sweet wife Van, his twin brother David, his sister Carol, and his cousin Bob.

Daniel was born on Oct. 27, 1955, 20 minutes before his twin brother David. Now his father claimed Dan was named after Daniel Boone and Dave was named after Davy Crockett. Though his mother would say the twins were named after people in the Bible: Daniel and the lions and David and Goliath. We think they each had a little bit of both characters in them.

When the nurse at Maine Medical told Dan’s family he had passed away. She said he seemed to be a good guy. One family member said, “Yes he was. Everyone liked him. He liked doing things for people and making them laugh. Strange how he never thought he was good enough because he was.”

Dan did not graduate from high school but got his GED when he was 30. He was so glad about that, not proud, but glad. Dan worked hard since he was 16. He liked to work, to keep busy, and to learn to do new things. One of his last jobs was as a supervisor for the interstate bakery. He was a boss, but he wasn’t bossy. He liked to help. He liked to work. Dan really lived the words in Galatians 6 v 10 “We should help people whenever we can.”

Dan is survived by his loving wife Van, whom he often said was so good to him. Dan is also survived by Van’s two children. Vutha Prak and Bora Prak, and wonderful grandchildren who love Dan to bits and whom he loved even more.

Dan is also survived by his twin brother, David who will miss him in ways only a twin can. and he is also survived by his sister, Carol who’ll miss hearing him say her name. His son Jeffrey will miss his father too.

There is a celebration of Dan’s life at Hope Memorial Chapel Thursday, Feb. 16 between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. You may donate flowers or even better, say a prayer for those he left behind who will miss him. God bless.
