Library lending snowshoes
The Bridgton Public Library, in conjunction with Loon Echo Land Trust, is lending snowshoes to anyone who wants to get out and hike around the snow-covered woods. It’s an opportunity to try it out before committing to purchasing a pair. The snowshoes are available to check out at no cost during regular library hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Ice skating at town rink
The town skating rink behind the Town Hall on North High Street is ready to go and everyone is invited to come along and give skating a whirl. Free skate rentals are available and a movie is shown every day in the warming room. To learn about ice conditions and operating hours, go to bridgtonmaine.org/bridgton-recreation.
Public breakfast
On Saturday, March 4, a pancake and sausage breakfast sponsored by American Legion Post 67 will be served at the Bridgton Community Center on Depot Street from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $8 per person and all proceeds go to benefit Legion Post 67, which is also located on Depot Street.
Accessible winter activities
Join Loon Echo Land Trust for a day of winter activities in Peabody-Fitch Woods at Narramissic Farm in South Bridgton on Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In case of poor weather, the backup date is Sunday, March 5. The Adaptive Outdoor Education Center, in collaboration with Maine Adaptive, will loan free adaptive and standard cross-country ski gear and snowshoes, and volunteers will be on hand to teach participants how to cross-country ski. Open space plan feedback
A workshop to discuss ideas for Bridgton’s open space plan will take place on Monday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Bridgton Town Office on Iredale Street. All those who live, work or play in Bridgton are welcome to attend. Results of the public survey will be presented and attendees will be able to contribute additional input and emphasize what they feel is important regarding the future of open space in town. Self defense workshop
A workshop focused on learning and practicing skills for self protection will be held at the town gym on North High Street from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 7 and 14. The suggested donation for the class is $15 and all proceeds benefit Tucker’s House, a local recovery home for women.
