Anne M. Yates

PORTLAND – Anne M. Yates, 86, passed away on March 10, 2023. Anne was born on Jan. 14, 1937 in Portland to Leonard J. “Red” Bolling and Hazel Bolling of South Portland.

Anne attended Cathedral and Holy Cross Catholic Schools. She worked at Tasty Freeze (now Red’s), Prudential Insurance and Hannaford Bros.

Anne was always smiling, laughing at silly things and jokes. She loved her family with everything she had, especially her husband, Peter. They spent many days outdoors, hiking, camping, boating, etc. She loved crafting, gardening and feeding the wildlife. She had many pets throughout the years. She loved them and they gave her comfort. She enjoyed walking the dogs, speaking to anyone passing by. Her favorite memories were of cruising with Peter. She loved to travel and visit different places.

Anne’s final days were spent at Fallbrook Woods in Portland, and she learned to love it there. She loved the staff and other residents and most of all, the activities! We lovingly called her “an artist on the run”! We love you, Mom!

Anne was predeceased by her husband, Peter; her parents; and her brother, David Bolling.

She is survived by her brother, Chris Bolling and his wife Alison; son, Tom Boyd, daughters Mary Welch, Lisa Amabile and her husband Frank, Catherine Nekoie and husband Bahman; stepchildren Sherri Card, Jeff Yates and wife Julie, and Susan Caiazzo and husband John; brother-in-law, Steve Yates and wife Lorene; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Portland, followed by burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
