Stevan C. Cote

SACO – Stevan C. Cote, 77, of Saco, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Huntington Common in Kennebunkport. He was born in Biddeford on Jan. 16, 1946, a son of Charles and Dorothy (Haley) Cote.

Stevan attended Saco schools and graduated from Thornton Academy, class of 1964. He went on and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1968 magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Art in Political Science. He was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa honor society at UNH. In 1970, Stevan attended police administration graduate courses at the University of Southern California.

Stevan enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968 as a Security Police Officer and served until 1980. He had assignments in Louisiana, Turkey, Michigan, Japan and New York.

In 1981, he joined Consumers Power Company in Midland, Mich. as a security staff member at a nuclear power plant. He transferred to the corporate security staff in Jackson, Mich. in 1985. In 1986, he was named Security Manager at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, Mich. and continued in that position until retirement in 2001, following a 20 year career with Consumers. Stevan returned home to Saco in 2001.

Stevan was a member of several professional associations during his career, including The American Society for Industrial Security, Air Force Security Police Association, Edison Electric Institute Security Task Force and the Midwest Nuclear Security Association.

He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his siblings Eric Cote and wife Dorothy-Rae, Marjorie Stewart and husband Frank and Suzanne Lemont and husband Paul. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. Burial will follow in the family lot at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
