Bruce A. Farwell
SPRINGVALE – Bruce A. Farwell, 81, of Springvale, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris.
Bruce is survived by his children, Christopher, David, Melissa, Gregory, and Diana; grandchildren, Sharlotte, Gregory, Ashley, Jake, Chanel, and Carrie; great-grandchildren, Emeline, Braxton, Ava, Bryce, Parker, LindaRose, AnnMarie, Emi, Kamron, Charlotte, and Thorin; godchildren, Jeffery Bourassa and Debra Ammons; siblings, Nancy, Ken, and Brian; and a large, supportive, loving extended family.
Bruce was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Daniel Webster and later retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He loved spending time with his family and friends camping at Apple Valley Campground in Acton and traveling to new places. He also had a passion for dining out, painting, journaling, sitting on his porch, enjoying his beautiful garden, watching the birds and spending time with his feline companion, Dexter.
Bruce’s kindness and generosity were evident to all who met him. He had a heart of gold and treated everyone he met like family. He touched many lives, and his warm smile and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bruce’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who attended to his medical needs throughout his extensive health struggles. They would like to extend a special thanks to his dedicated nurse, Sarah, and the compassionate support staff at Maine Medical Center, who provided unwavering care and comfort to both Bruce and his loved ones during such a trying time. Their kindness and support will always be remembered and cherished.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, at Bibber Memorial Chapel at Autumn Green, 47 Oak St. in Alfred. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Brothers of Christian Instruction, 132 Shaker Hill Rd. in Alfred.
