Beverly A. Brennan
CAPE ELIZABETH – Beverly A. Brennan, aka “Nana Banana”, 87, of Cape Elizabeth, died on April 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1935, in Providence, R.I. to Jack and Christina Bashaw and on Sept. 7, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard J. Brennan, aka “Skip”, at St. Michael’s Church in Wheeling, W.Va. Beverly graduated from West Virginia University in 1957.
Nana spent her younger years raising five children moving from place to place until they finally found home settling in Cape Elizabeth in 1976. Nana loved living in Maine because of her love for the ocean and the change of seasons. She especially enjoyed taking her children to Casino beach, close to their home in Cape Elizabeth, where the neighborhood mothers and kids spent their days in the sun each summer.
Nana also enjoyed spending time in her garden, working at Portland Headlight gift shop in Cape Elizabeth, eating out with Skippy on Friday nights so she didn’t have to cook, and taking fall trips to the Seaside Inn in Kennebunkport with the cousins.
Beverly is survived by her children, Richard (Tracy) Brennan, Jr., Christina (Lou) Couture, Erin P. Brennan (Michael Horrisberger), David Brennan; her 10 beautiful grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral will be held on May 13, 4 p.m., at Hobbs Funeral Home, located at 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, ME 04106.
