Mother’s Day at Broadturn Farm to feature green goodies for sale, plus family-friendly activities
The Scarborough Land Trust will partner with Broadturn Farm Inc. to offer a special Mother’s Day event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Broadturn Farm.
Scarborough Land Trust is offering native trees and shrubs for sale. You can preorder or shop at the event. Native plants are adapted to our growing conditions and provide valuable food and cover to local wildlife. Check out SLT’s website for a full list and preorder instructions. SLT will also have a selection of nature books, games and merchandise available for sale.
Flowers for moms also will be available for sale, with preordered arrangements in a custom Alice Nasto ceramic vase available online, or purchase flower bunches on site the day of the event.
Rebel Hill Farm will sell native, perennial wildflowers. A complete list is available on the farm’s website. You can preorder by calling Rebel Hill Farm, or shop at the sale (cash or checks only).
Old Wells Farm will offered certified organic vegetable, flower and herb seedlings. You can check out the plants available online and purchase the day of the event.
Local artisan goods, food truck fare and 15 minute-chair massages will be available for purchase, and activities will include nature walks and several activities for kids and families, such as story time, seed planting and more.
Parking will be along the access road at 7 Hanson Road. The main entrance to Broadturn Farm will be blocked off for the event.

KENNEBUNKPORT
Dance with yourself (or others) at ’80s hits show 
“Hits from the Eighties” will be the theme of the Mid-Week Music concert series, to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at The Town House School, 135 North St.
Join musicians Dana Pearson (guitar, piano), Andy Macleod (guitar) and Susan Richardson (drums), who will perform musical hits of hits from the 1980s.

Rhythm Future Quartet to play at Meetinghouse Arts
Rhythm Future Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Meetinghouse Arts Gallery & Stage, 40 Main St.
The acoustic jazz ensemble offers up a newly minted yet wholly contemporary sound influenced by the classic Hot Club of France. Founded by violinist Jason Anick, the quartet performs dynamic and lyrical arrangements of both Gypsy jazz standards and original compositions, with Max O’Rourke, Henry Acker and Greg Loughman rounding out the quartet.

St. Bartholomew’s to present seminar combining faith, mental health
St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church will host the seminar “Courage to Thrive: Practical Steps You Can Start Today to Find Meaning, Joy, and Hope,” to be headed by the Rev. Dr. Robert D. Flanagan, at 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, located at 396 Gilman Road.
Flanagan will share his personal journey that weaves together the support of mental health professionals with his paths of faith. The presentation is drawn from his first-person journal “Courage to Thrive” (published in 2020), which offers forty heartfelt reflections and healing prayers.
The talk is free and open to the public.

Chamber of Commerce to host marketing-focused breakfast
Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a business breakfast presentation with Trampoline Advertising managing partner Paula Slayton and creative director Derek Slayton from 7:15 to 9 a.m. Thursday at Best Western Plus, 375 Main St.
Talking points will cover audience communication, brand consistency, measuring and tracking marketing performance through Google Analytics, and how to use that information to benefit marketing strategies. Audience questions will be taken, and there also will be networking opportunities with other business leaders.
Cost is $23 for members with advance registration, or $29 at the door and for non-members. Registration includes breakfast.

Slew of poets to lead library’s reading evening
The Camden Public Library will welcome distinguished poets Mark S. Burrows, John Paul Caponigro, Maya Stein, Meg Weston and Lucinda Zeising for an evening of reading and discussion at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as part of a poetry series. This is a hybrid event that will take place in person in the third-floor Reading Room of the library, 55 Main St., and via Zoom.
