Monique “Nikki” Gallant Johnson, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Biddeford on Oct. 24, 1956, a daughter of the late Arthur and Reina (Corbeil) Gallant. Nikki has fought cancer the last six years with a great positive attitude. Her faith never wavered.

She grew up in Acton working along with her siblings and parents at the family business on Mousam Lake. In her early years she enjoyed ice skating and fishing. She worked a variety of jobs always making new friends. Nikki enjoyed writing poetry and sharing them with her friends and family. She had many cats as companions going back to her youth. She enjoyed feeding and watching her feathered friends, especially her cardinals.

Nikki was known to speak her mind freely and often brought joy and laughter as a result. Over the years she visited friends and family in Nova Scotia. On Feb. 14, 2008 she married Dave Johnson and soon made new friends at Arundel Eagles, where she served as an officer and a volunteer steward on duty. She also made countless friends at Bentley’s. Together they took many motorcycle rides.

Nikki is predeceased by her parents.

She leaves behind her husband, Dave Johnson of Arundel, her sister, Patricia Robar and her husband, Neil of Nova Scotia, her two brothers, Ronald Gallant and his wife, Barbara and Gerald Gallant and his wife, Donna, all of Shapleigh. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as several cousins and her one remaining maternal aunt along with her closest friends who have been very supportive to her during her recent challenges.

The family wishes to thank all the staff of Hospice and Gosnell House.

Per her wishes burial will be private at the Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.

A celebration of her life for friends will be held at a date and time to be determined. Arrangements entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick. A memorial fund has been set up on Nikki’s page to assist the family during this time, www.JohnsonFuneralHomeME.com.
