Candidates forum

Meet the candidates running for office in Gray at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Henry Pennell Municipal Complex. Candidates attending the forum include Daniel Maguire and Matthew Hight, running for town council; Lauren Meek, running for the SAD 15 board of directors; and Bruce Sawyer, running for reelection to the Gray Water District.

Mitch Berkowitz and Brad Fogg will be the forum moderators. Residents can submit questions in advance by email to

Residents can also attend virtually via Zoom. The forum will be broadcasted on Gray Community Television and replayed until the June 13 election. It will also be available on the town’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

Saturday night church supper

The First Congregational Church of Gray will hold a public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Gray Community Food Pantry at 5 Brown St. Cost is $10 per meal. The menu includes casseroles, salads, baked pea beans, hot dogs, breads and desserts.

Memorial Day food drive

On May 27 and May 28, the American Legion and the Gray-New Gloucester Lions Club will hold a food drive at the Gray Shop ‘n Save from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the Gray Community Food Pantry. Bring non-perishable canned and boxed goods to help out fellow community members.


The Lions Club will have free reading glasses on hand to distribute to those in need.

Longest Day 5K

Register online for the Longest Day 5K at Libby Hill Forest, taking place on the first day of summer, June 21. Gray-New Gloucester students run for free, and others can sign up for $15 at There will be a free 1K Kids Fun Run at 6:15 p.m. before the 5K starts at 6:30 p.m. You can also sign up at the race in person for $20.

Every entry puts you in the running for free giveaways from Pineland Farms and fruit from Hannaford and Shop ‘n Save.

Legion Riders

The American Legion Post 86 in Gray goes for motorcycle rides Tuesday nights at 6 p.m., meeting at the Legion Post at 15 Lewiston Road.
