Bridgton Hospital adds
3-D mammography unit

Bridgton Hospital has added a new mammography unit using 3-D imaging to screen for breast cancer, thanks to donations from the Bridgton Hospital Guild and the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation.

Bridgton Hospital is the only facility in the Lakes Region to offer 3-D breast imaging. Benefits over 2-D imaging include earlier diagnosis, more accuracy, better detection in dense tissue and fewer callbacks for false alarms, according to a Central Maine Healthcare press release.
