BIDDEFORD —Therese Doris Viger of North Providence, Rhode Island, formerly of Biddeford, Maine, died at Darlington Memory Lane on Friday, Sept. 15, at the age of 91.

Born in Biddeford, Maine, on Jan. 8, 1932, Therese was the daughter of Herve Loranger and Merilda (Verrier) Loranger. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1950. Therese worked at the Saco-Lowell Shops for five years prior to accompanying her husband at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, where she worked in the Post Engineer’s Office.  Therese then worked as a legal secretary at her husband’s law office throughout his career.  She was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford and Kennebunk, and a volunteer at St. James School for more than 25 years.

Therese’s greatest passions were spending time with her family and preparing meals for them, enjoying all sports, and traveling with her husband, Marcel, throughout all 50 states. They also traveled extensively throughout all of Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Japan.  As avid sports fans, Therese and Marcel attended baseball games in nearly every major league baseball park, taking in the annual Patriot’s Day Red Sox baseball game, and then watching the end of the Boston Marathon on their wedding anniversary from 1957 to 2009.

Therese and Marcel loved live music and attended many musical shows throughout the country, including Louis Armstrong, Lawrence Welk, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and Celine Dion.  They also attended live musicals each summer at the Brunswick Music Theatre for 25 years.

Therese was extremely proud of her Franco-American heritage and taught her daughters French at home, and sang French songs with her grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishments in life were marrying the love of her life, Marcel, raising three daughters together, spending time with their nine grandchildren, and meeting her three great-grandchildren. Therese and Marcel also enjoyed taking their widowed mothers to California, Las Vegas, and Florida for several vacations.

Therese is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Marcel, who passed away in 2016; her sisters and brothers-in-law Pauline and Paul Nolette and Jeannette and Raymond Elie; her brother and sister-in-law Leo Paul and Irene Loranger; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Leopold Viger. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands:  Joanne (Dr. Richard Huot) of Vero Beach, Florida; Patricia (Kenneth Crepeau) of Biddeford; and Jacqueline (Jonathan Gallishaw) of Seekonk, Massachusetts; along with nine grandchildren, Todd, Kaleigh, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Kerry, Patrick, Brady, Wesley and Ethan; three great-grandchildren Everly, Layla and Oliver; a sister-in-law, Jeannine Viger; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Hope Memorial.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
