Rita P. Turgeon

BIDDEFORD — Rita P. Turgeon, of Biddeford, passed away on Dec. 28, 2023.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1940, to Lorenzo and Yvette (Bellefeuille) Houle. Rita attended Biddeford schools and graduated from Marie Joseph Academy in 1958. She pursued further education at an airline school in Hartford, Connecticut, and embarked on a career with Eastern Airlines in New York City for two years, followed by eight years at Maremont Corp. in Saco.

In 1966, Rita relocated to Connecticut, where she worked as a waitress for 16 years before returning to Maine in 1982. She served as a billing clerk at Billing Plus in Gorham, Maine, for a decade and later co-owned and operated Data-MED Corp. for 12 years until her retirement in 2006.

Rita married Norman A. Turgeon on Dec. 8, 1996, who predeceased her on June 13, 2010. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society in Biddeford, “Les Grandes Dames Ou Maine,” and found joy in activities such as golfing, knitting, walks, and bowling.

She was predeceased by her son, Michael Greene, brother Albert Houle, and stepmother Germaine Houle.

Rita is survived by her sons Richard Greene and wife Margaret of Indiana, Joseph Greene and wife Diane of Torrington, Connecticut, Ray Greene of New Orleans, Louisiana, John Greene and wife Theresa of Goshen, Connecticut, and Charles Greene of Hawaii; daughters Carol Ann Horne and wife Susan White of California, Susan Lalonde and husband Jefferey of Phoenix, Arizona, Irene Knapp of Torrington, Connecticut, Penny Lewis and husband Frank of Manchester, Connecticut, and daughter-in-law Ann Greene of Las Vegas, Nevada. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation was held on Jan. 4, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Mass was scheduled for Jan. 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
