Jolene Susan (Croteau) Michaud

PORTLAND – Jolene Susan (Croteau) Michaud, 76, passed away peacefully on Jan. 4, 2024, surrounded by family.

Jolene was born in Lisbon on Nov. 2, 1947. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Class of 1966. She worked for over 20 years at Maine Medical Center as a unit secretary and registration clerk.

First and foremost, Jolene was a dedicated mother. She treasured every moment with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian who loved attending prayer groups and bible study with her sister, Jacki, and best friend, Ollie. Jolene’s faith was a true gift, and was best described as having a ‘heart of gold’. She was selfless, caring, positive, and always made everyone laugh. Jolene filled every room she walked in with love and happiness, and instilled those traits in all she met.

She loved spending time at her condo in Florida while her granddaughter Vanessa attended The University of South Florida. Jolene cherished the memories she made while watching the spectacular sunsets on Anna Maria Island, with her twin granddaughters. She valued caring for her youngest grandchildren Sophie, Alex and Matthew. She played an essential role in their upbringing, and helped homeschool them amidst the pandemic. Sophie, Alex and Matthew hold many wonderful memories of Granny close to their hearts. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Frankie Michaud; mother, Edna Croteau; sisters Marsha Kroll, Margo Reagan, and best friend, Ollie Jeffers

She is survived by high school sweetheart and husband of 57 years, Frank Michaud; son, Kevin (Jenn) Michaud of Portland, daughter, Karen Michaud and her partner, Peter Tanous of Portland; siblings Jacki Gray, Joe, Jim, and Jeff Croteau; and many nieces and nephews. Jolene was known as “Granny” to her five grandchildren, Hanna and Vanessa Scott, Sophie, Alexander, and Matthew Michaud. Jolene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25 at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland.
