Wayne Blair Worrey
MARSHALL, Mich. – Wayne Blair Worrey, 73, of Marshall, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at his home.
Wayne was born on June 12, 1950, in Portland to Parker Earl, Jr. and Juanita (Leeman) Worrey. He attended school in Bucksport and graduated from Deering High School in Portland with the class of 1969. Wayne spent one year at Calhoon MEBA Engineering School in Baltimore, Md. He married Wanda Gower on Dec. 31, 1975 in South Portland. They were married 25 years and had two children together. Wayne and Wanda divorced, yet they remained close to one another and eventually rekindled their spark, connection, and love for one another.
Wayne worked for South Portland Engineering, Bath Ironworks, owned his own electrician business, Barron Center, and worked for a friend at PACE Electrical in Maine. In 2018, he moved to Michigan to be closer to his son. He then worked at the Best Western hotel in Coldwater, Mich. as a maintenance person.
Wayne was a member of the PBR Street Gang (Jeep Club) in Coldwater, Mich. He had the best of times hitting the trails up north with friends that he considered family. Never to be out done, and still having the childlike joy of splashing in the mud puddles. He was charismatic (can’t turn that Worrey charm off), sarcastic, comical, stubborn, had a heart of gold, and he would do anything for his kids. Always a person to put others needs ahead of his own, Wayne would do anything he could for someone else without question or hesitation. He was a true jack of all trades and willing to lend a hand, a thought, advise, perseverance; whatever it took to get the job done. He was always the person to laugh at himself first; driven to keep a smile on people’s faces, laughter in their heart, no matter what it took. Always one to speak his mind, he was inspiring, uplifting, willing to share his wisdom from his own trials and tribulations in life. He put his all into every aspect of his life; most importantly, he was the most dedicated husband, father, and best friend anyone could ask for.
Wayne is survived by his son, Tony (Jessica Weck, Addison, Sophia Gates) Worrey of Marshall, Mich.; his daughter, Krissy Faye Worrey of Marshall, Mich.; his brother, Parker (CeCe) Worrey, III of Windham, his loving sister, Leona “Faye” Garnett of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; extended family member, Gail Jackson, of Westbrook; his grandchildren, Gabriel Adams and Ian Firman; his nephew and five nieces; and his former wife, (soulmate), Wanda Worrey of Marshall, Mich.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Parker “Joey” Worrey” IV.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, he will be cremated and no public services will be held at this time. While not determined yet, a celebration of life will be held to honor Wayne, his journey, memories, and laughter. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation in Union City, Mich.
