Leonard “Butch” Dill

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Leonard “Butch” Dill, Retired Master Chief of the Navy, of Arnold, Md., passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 23, 2023 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Butch was born in Boston, Mass. to Leonard S. Dill and Ann M. Dill (Child). In 1962, he was part of the first class to graduate from Pacelli High School in Columbus, Ga.

He joined the Navy at the age of 17. After retiring from the Navy, he continued to work as Disbursing Officer at the Department of the Navy in Washington D.C. Upon his final retirement he took up riding his Harley Davidson across the United States. You could always count on Butch to share a joke and get a chuckle out of everyone he met.

Butch is survived by his children, Dawn and John Dill; sister, Judy Harris (Jim); grandchildren, Cameron Dill, Owen Dill, Drew Marecek and Ema Mareckova; nephews, Micah Mulinix, Asa Mulinix (Yvonne) and Jacob Mulinix (Amy).

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard S. Dill and Ann M. Dill (Child); and the mother of his children, Sandra L. Bell (Cook).

Butch’s final resting place will be in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
