WELLS – Barbara G. Ney (born in Derby, Conn. in 1930) a resident of Wells, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House May 10, 2024. She was in “at home hospice” care for six months and could not have received better care.

Barbara was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind three daughters, Susan Robinson, and husband Steve, Nancy Ney-Colby and husband Jim, Yvonne Ney, one son, J. Clayton Ney Jr. and wife Tova; and many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, J. Clayton Ney Sr. with whom she had been married to for 45 years.

Barbara, her husband and three of her four children moved to Southern Maine in 1982 with the relocation of Expanded Rubber Products, Inc from Watertown, Conn. She was a prolific reader, leaving behind a journal listing countless books read over the past 30 years.

She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, passing along afghans, hats, vests, and scarves to family members. Barbara had an impeccable style and taste and her home and life reflected that. She will be remembered by all for her thoughtful, loving way and devotion to family.

A private memorial service will be planned in the Summer 2024.
