Michael “Mike” John Jensen

FALMOUTH – On March 25, 2024 Michael “Mike” John Jensen passed away after an extended period in the hospital and a brief stay in rehab. He was 68 years old.

Born on Nov. 5, 1955, in Portland, Mike lived much of his life in Falmouth. He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1974 and went on to receive a degree in Law Enforcement from the Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He worked for a time at the Portland Pipeline in South Portland and later Morris Yachts in Southwest Harbor.

He was a very private person who was devoted to his dogs. His care for animals did not stop there, once rescuing orphaned baby squirrels, caring for them until they could transition to a home he had built for them on his property. Mike loved the outdoors and enjoyed many summers exploring, kayaking and fishing with his daughter on Big Lake, in Princeton. His daughter has special memories of the adventures they used to go on together to many fun destinations. On the way, they would make up stories in the car. Mike would start the story and Lauren would continue the next part of the story and they would go back and forth and laugh as the story became more and more ridiculous.

Mike had many interests and hobbies. He was interested computers and technology. He built himself a computer from scratch, like to build RC cars and enjoyed playing World of Warcraft and other games on his computer. He played the guitar and brewed his own beer. Mike liked to read and was a long-time fan of science fiction and the fantasy author, Terry Pratchett. He was a talented wood carver and made many gifts for his family.

Mike was predeceased by his father, John Jensen; and is survived by his daughter, Lauren Jensen; his mother Joan Jensen; his sister, Kathy Jensen; and his beloved Newfoundland dog, Buddy.

Friends are invited to join the family in a remembrance of Mike’s life on July 20 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 164, 65 Depot Rd. in Falmouth.
