Thomas Gerard McOsker

CAPE ELIZABETH – Thomas Gerard McOsker, 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sept. 8, 2024. He is remembered for his gentle spirit, humor, profound knowledge, and deep love for family and friends.

Born on March 23, 1957, in Lowell, Mass., Tom was the son of the late Fredrick L. and Joan T. McOsker. He grew up as a cherished brother to Joanne, Brenda, Frederick, and Martha. At Lowell High School, he excelled in sports, setting records in football, baseball, and track, and was admired for his dedication and leadership.

Tom continued his athletic career at the College of the Holy Cross, where he became an All-American lacrosse player. After graduating in 1979, he pursued a master’s in Speech and Language Pathology at Case Western Reserve University, where he met his wife, Cynthia McOsker. They married in 1980 and eventually settled in Maine, where they built a life together for 44 years.

Throughout his career, Tom was a respected clinical leader, known for innovative approaches to speech and language rehabilitation. He served as Clinical Director at New England Rehabilitation Hospital, making significant contributions to his field and mentoring others.

Tom and Cindy raised three children, Thomas Ryan, Ashley Dawn Picoraro, and Bryce Marshall. He shared his passions with them, whether it was through road trips, educational pursuits, or attending their performances and games. An enthusiastic father, Tom also initiated a mini-lacrosse league during a brief move to Florida. He enjoyed the companionship of their Maltese therapy dog, Dewey.

In addition to family, Tom loved gardening and was a self-taught carpenter, building their family camp on Frye Island and transforming two historic houses into their family homes. He found his peace on the water, kayaking Sebago Lake and boating Casco Bay.

Tom was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Milo, Isla, Wesley, Fynn, Cleo, and Hugo. He cherished spending time with them, engaging in playful activities, and making lasting memories.

Thomas Gerard McOsker touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
