240 String Celebrates Female Composers with a concert on at 3 p.m. at 28 Neal St. in Portland. The Portland Piano Trio will play music by Clara Schumann, Jennifer Higdon, and Elena Ruehr. The Portland Piano Trio is the resident ensemble of 240 Strings, which provides subsidized music lessons and affordable chamber music concerts to Portland youth.

Free drive-thru shredding event at Saco & Biddeford Savings branch a 41 Gorham Road in Scarborough from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the truck is full. The event is open to the public. Bring up to two boxes of documents. Canned goods or monetary donations will be accepted for the Scarborough Food Pantry.

Bess Jacques at the Grand Piano, 6 to 9 p.m., The Lincoln Hotel, 17 Lincoln St., Biddeford. Pianist and singer Bess Jacques performs on the Steinway grand piano in the beautiful lobby bar at the Lincoln Hotel. Expect vintage jazz, pop, and everything in between.
