OOB to vote on mobile
home ordinance
At the public hearing on Sept. 3, the Citizens’ Petition for a proposed Mobile Home Rent Stabilization Ordinance for Old Orchard Beach was voted by the Town Council to be on the Nov. 5 ballot. If the ordinance passes, Old Orchard Beach will be the first town in Maine to enact a mobile home rent stabilization ordinance to combat the exorbitant rent increases by the out-of-state and out-of-the-country mobile home park owners that are being implemented throughout the State of Maine and around the country. It should also be noted that Sen. Donna Bailey and Rep. Lori Gramlich are reportedly exploring the possibility of introducing a statewide mobile home rent stabilization ordinance to the Maine legislature when it convenes again this January. I fully support their efforts as mobile home parks are one of the last bastions of affordable housing in Maine and throughout the nation.

Vote for Donna Bailey for Senate
As your former state senator and current county commissioner, I know what it takes to be a successful lawmaker to represent our area. Donna Bailey is someone who listens to the needs of our community and champions our values. She leads from the heart, which is something that is often missed in politics today. She is accessible, which means she is accountable to you. You have a state issue. You need help navigating state government. You just have a question and don’t know where to go. Donna is one email or phone call away from a solution. If she doesn’t know an answer, she will get you one. It’s the lawyer and former Probate Judge in her. Donna is our people’s advocate amongst the sea of lobbyists in those hallowed halls. We need to keep Donna right where she’s at, fighting for us every day in the Senate.

Vote for Independent Pendleton for SD 31
Senate District 31 has sent the same senator to Augusta for over a half a decade. So how are things going so far? According to US News, Maine school test scores have plummeted from 19th best in the country to 43rd. On the property tax side, the last Legislature eliminated an increase to our homestead tax exemptions and repealed an act to limit how fast property taxes can grow. I think it’s time to put Augusta on notice by sending a new independent voice to Augusta. It’s time to elect Craig Pendleton as our senator. By looking at Craig’s political ad in the Courier, you see his work experiences shows he’s not a one-trick pony, but has worked in transportation, commerce, and our traditional fishing industry. As an independent, we will finally have a voice that will not kowtow to a particular party’s agenda, but truly represent the people of Saco.

Vote Fontaine for OOB council
I have lived in OOB for nine years and my taxes have gone up every year. I do not see any change in these years. I love this town but truly know that we need a change. The following councilmen have been in office for the following years;
• Shawn ONeil since 1997 (27 years)
• Mike Tousignant since 2008 (16 years)
• Kenny Blow since 2013 (12 years)
There are no term limits for these councilmen.
When I moved here I had no idea who to vote for and I hope someone reading this agrees there is a need for a change in this town.
Guy Fountaine is running for councilman. He is more than qualified for the office. He lives here and cares about this town. Please vote for Guy Fountaine.
