FALMOUTH – Mary Helen Timberlake, born April 8, 1939, in Lewiston, to Everett and Helen McMerriman. Graduate of Lewiston High School, and beloved wife to Gordon for 65 years, residing in their home in Falmouth. Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024.
Mary loved babies, her family, and her home. Mary spent many of her younger years on Long Island and Peaks Island, loved the beach and the ocean, and loved bringing the grandchildren to Peaks Island to enjoy it with her. She loved spending time with her family and had a very gentle and kind way about her. Mary had a good sense of humor and a positive outlook. She also enjoyed walking, bicycling, and was a very good tennis player. Mary worked as an x-ray technician, and was also employed for a time at Sears, L.L.Bean, and Valle’s Restaurant.
Mary was a kind and devoted mother to children Robyn Wilcox, Scott Timberlake, Tim Timberlake, and Laurie Dorr. Extended family members include Tammy Young and Bob Dorr. Mary was blessed with seven grandchildren who include Sarah Wilcox, Matt Wilcox, Evan Timberlake, Monica Moody, Bobby Dorr, Alex Dorr, and Samantha Gerokoulis; as well as great-granddaughters Morgan Geiss and Grace McIntosh; and great-grandsons Tripp McIntosh and Idris Timberlake.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Everett and Helen McMerriman; as well as her sister, Evelyn Densmore.
Visiting hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. Please join us for a gathering at Bruno’s Restaurant afterwards; 33 Allen Ave., Portland, 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave., Portland, followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lewiston, 1:30 p.m.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed tremendously forever.
