Relevant experience: State representative for House District 125 serving on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee (one term); Scarborough Board of Education (six years, including one year as board chair and four years as chair of the Policy Committee); member of the Wentworth Building Committee Steering Committee; J.D., Columbus School of Law.
Why are you running for office? It’s been my honor to be your representative in Augusta. I have a passion for education, ending food insecurity, and creating opportunities for all Mainers to live in safe, healthy communities. My experience ensures I’m ready to get back to work on Day 1 of the next legislative session.
What are your top three legislative priorities? Investments in kids and families (fully funded public schools, affordable and accessible health care and early childhood care and education, investment in low- or no-cost higher education, and career training). Legislation that prioritizes affordable housing and competitive wages so Maine kids don’t need to leave the state in order to raise families and advance in their careers. Expansion of programs benefiting older Mainers so they can choose whether they will age in place with supportive care or move to a safe, suitable living environment without costs being the biggest determining factor.
Other comments: Born and raised in Scarborough, I left town to attend college and law school in Washington, D.C. My employment, public office and volunteer roles for the last 20-plus years have all been in service to this community. I’m an experienced voice and fierce advocate for Scarborough in Augusta.
