Alan R. Hill
PALMETTO, Fla. – Alan R. Hill, 74, of Palmetto, Fla., Ellsworth, and Sanford, passed away on Sept. 22, 2024 at home with his loving wife, Bonnie, by his side, who cared for him during his five-year battle with Dementia and Cancer.
He was born in Boston, Mass. to Arnold Hill and Ethelyn Libby Hill on March 22,1950.
Alan was a teacher and taught in Woburn, Mass., Ellsworth and Waterboro, and also did a little substitute teaching in Ruskin, Fla. before being diagnosed with Cancer and Dementia. Teaching was Alan’s passion and he did it with kindness, a gentle spirit and with the hope that he could help all of his students learn something they could benefit from throughout their lives. His heart was so happy when former students would see him and talk about how they had applied what they had learned from him, to their current careers and/or lives.
Alan was predeceased by both his parents Arnold Hill and Ethelyn Libby Hill.
He’s survived by his wife, Bonnie; his son, Thomas, stepson, Jeffrey (Kate) and stepdaughter, Jessica (Derek); four granddaughters, Mackenna, Charli, Eme and Sloane.
Special thanks to Alan’s hospice nurses, Caroline and Nidia, who were so compassionate, kind and helpful during this very emotional and difficult time.
We also want to thank the many friends who’ve stayed in touch, inquired and offered their support throughout this journey, especially Kathy Levesque and Kathy Lawrence who were here to support Bonnie and Alan…just know that because of you, our lives were made much easier by your generosity as well as your thoughtful and kind gestures… and your friendship will forever be treasured.
Services for Alan will be announced at a later date.
