KEY WEST, Fla. – William Charles Smaha, of Key West, Fla., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, following a long illness. Bill was born in Portland, Maine on June 3, 1942, the fifth child of Joseph and Victoria (Sabbagh) Smaha.

He was a graduate of Deering High School in Portland, and the University of Maine, Orono. His career took him to Boston, Mass. where he worked for Hancock Insurance as a Senior Life Underwriter.

Bill retired from Hancock and moved to Key West, where he enjoyed warm weather, bike riding, working out, and socializing with friends. Family was always important to Bill, and he travelled all over the country to see them, always excited to visit and attend family events. He was very proud of his nieces and nephews, wanting to be kept up on all the latest activities in their families, no matter how far away they lived. He loved catching up on the phone and was an avid Facebook user!

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Jr, Gerald and James Smaha, and his sister, Shirley Aberizk.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visiting period from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, Mass. A prayer service will be held from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the United Lebanese Cemetery, Corbett Road, Larwence, Mass.
