Lillian Ann (Witham) Thomas

WOOLWICH – Lillian Ann (Witham) Thomas, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024.

Lillian was born in North Troy, Vt. on Oct. 26, 1929 to John Otis Witham and Lottie Mae Davison, the first of three children. She graduated from Morse High School in 1947, the last class to wear white dresses and red roses.

Lillian married her wonderful husband Richard Harry Thomas on March 22, 1952 at Corliss Street Baptist Church, after meeting while they were both employed at a local department store chain. They had two children, Linda and Wendy, who Lillian passed her love of education and of meaningful work to. A dedicated member of her church, Lillian was the treasurer for 28 years following her retirement from Bath Iron Works.

Lillian fiercely loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending many summer nights at their family camp playing games, and getting ice cream as a family. Lillian was a champion for staying in touch with friends and family, and loved seeing pictures of what her loved ones have been up to.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents; and her brother.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her sister, Helen; her daughters, Linda (Wayne) Hinkley, and Wendy (Peter) McCormack; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Nathan) Tibbetts, Justin (Amy) Tibbetts, and Jason (Jen) Tibbetts; and her great-grandchildren, Sadie, Ethan, Max, Connor, Samson, Jordan, and Charles.

Visitation for Lillian will be held on Wednesday Nov. 6, at Desmond’s Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath, at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Corliss Street Baptist Church, 396 Middle St., Bath, at 1 p.m. with a celebration to follow.
