Free kimchi tasting

The market at Pineland Farms, 15 Farm View Drive, is offering a free tasting featuring Kimchi Beyond Compare from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. Their product is made in small batches using a traditional Korean recipe consisting of salted and fermented vegetables. It is often used as a side dish, but kimchi is also used in a variety of soups and stews.

Kimchi Beyond Compare is naturally free of gluten, sugar, dairy, MSG and soy. Patrons will have the opportunity to sample three unique types of kimchi, each showcasing diverse flavors. Learn more at pinelandfarms.org.

Vaccine clinic

Hosted by GNG Community Connectors, a COVID-19 and flu vaccine clinic will be held at the New Gloucester Community Building, 381 Intervale Road, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 20. This free clinic is being administered through the Southern Maine Agency on Aging in partnership with the health care team at Northern Light Health.

Sign up online at agewisemaine.org. For those having difficulty registering for this clinic, call Southern Maine Agency on Aging Area at 396-6500 for assistance. Walk-ins will be welcome for those unable to register for any reason.

Four Senses Walk

Master Naturalist Marie Camillo Reimensnyder from the Royal River Conservation Trust will lead a no-cost, family-friendly nature walk from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17. The curriculum will be “Four Senses Walk – What can we see, hear, smell, and feel in the forest in November?”

Participants are asked to bring weather-appropriate gear, snacks and a thermos or water bottle, as well as blaze orange because it’s hunting season. Waterproof boots for hiking are recommended. All ages are welcome. Leave dogs at home, as the purpose of the walk is to observe nature.

The location is the Lower Village portion of Intervale Preserve. Park along the road shoulders of Church Road, not in the church parking lot, and walk across Gloucester Hill Road. Gather at the trail head. For more information, go to rrct.org/weekend-nature-walks.

“Memories and Milestones”

As part of the NG250 series of events celebrating the town’s 250th anniversary of its incorporation, “Memories and Milestones” is a New Gloucester Historical Society presentation featuring recollections by longtime town residents.

Nov. 16 supper canceled

According to the New Gloucester Republican Committee Facebook page, their annual spaghetti supper to benefit the local emergency heating assistance fund which was scheduled for Nov. 16 has been canceled at this time due to a scheduling conflict. The committee hopes to reschedule in early 2025.
