Orman Leroy Merrill
PORTLAND – Heaven received another angel today. Orman Leroy Merrill left us on Feb. 25, 2025, at Maine Medical Center. He was surrounded by his family. Orman was 89 years old.
He grew up in South Portland. He was a loving father, husband and friend. Orman was a Army National guard medic for 10 years. He was a Civil War historian. He also loved all the New England pro teams and the Florida Gators athletics. He loved all animals and had a soft spot for chihuahuas as did his wife Elsie. Sadly Orman lost the love of his life to Alzheimer’s in 2020.
He was predeceased by his mother Ethel, father Duane and daughter Julie Ann. He is survived by his children William, Robert, Stefanie Chambers and her husband Bruce, Steven, Cathy Ann and her husband Roland. Orman has several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will be having a private service at Laurel Hill cemetery in Saco at a later date.
