John Chenard
EAST WATERBORO – John Chenard, 81, of East Waterboro, passed away Feb. 28, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Saco, Dec. 3, 1943, the son of Gerard and Rachel (Danis) Chenard.
On July 3, 1965, he married the love of his life Marie ”Lillian” Chenard who he loved very much.
After graduation, he served in the United States Navy from Dec. 29, 1961 until May 16, 1966. He also served in the Army National Guard from Feb. 3, 1973 until Dec. 31, 1991. John worked in various industries throughout the years as a machinist. John was a special man of high integrity. He was honest, straightforward, a true friend and a loyal husband who expected no less from his family.
John was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed woodworking and working on computers in his spare time. During the summer, he enjoyed spending quality time at the lake with his family riding motorcycles with his wife Marie. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Marie Chenard; and sister, Louise Harrison.
John is survived by his daughter, Laura (Chenard) Harrington and her husband Thomas of Limerick, son, Roger Chenard of Bryant Pond, son, Troy Chenard and his wife Sherry of East Waterboro, son, John Chenard Jr. of Saco; 10 grandchildren, Michael Prior, Andrew Prior, Marie Harrington, Thomas Harrington, Katherine Chenard, Trevor Chenard, John Chenard III, Kaitlynne Chenard, Nicholas Chenard, and Dominick Bubar; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco followed by a graveside ceremony at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, where John and Marie will be laid to rest.
