Claudette Russo

WESTBROOK – Claudette Russo, 88, a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church passed away after a brief illness on March 5, 2025, in Falmouth.

She was born on March 22, 1936, in Westbrook to the late Joseph Theophile and Oliva B. Richard and attended Westbrook schools graduating from Westbrook High School in 1954.

On Jan. 5, 1957, she married Carmine F. Russo at St. Hyacinth’s Church. Together they had five children, Cynthia Poitras (Eugene), Sharon Russo, Suzanne Russo (Susan Mills), Carmine Russo and Anna Russo (Doug Morin); grandsons Corey Poitras (Danielle), Garrett Poitras (Stephanie), Troy Logan (Andrea’ Moral N), Jarrick Russo (Michelle Clark); great-grandchildren, Aidan and Chloe Poitras, and Emma Poitras and two great-granddaughters due in May and in July; as well as her special cat, Poppy.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Carmine; her in-laws Carmine F. and Florence C. Russo; sisters Antoinette Tardif, Cecile Palmer, Connie Walker, and Gloria Hansen.

Claudette retired from the Westbrook School Department, later working at L.L.Bean’s Flagship Store and then Hannaford at Falmouth Crossing, retiring again at the age of 86 in 2023.

Claudette loved traveling with her husband prior to his passing in 2002, attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, walking with her cousins and friends, hosting family gatherings and attending many of her children’s special and informal events.

A graveside service is planned in the spring and will be private per her request.

Her family wants to thank the staff at Sedgewood Commons’ Millay Unit for their care of our Mom during her brief stay with them.
