WESTBROOK – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of André Alanzo McKay on March 7, 2025. He was born on Dec. 22, 1976, in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica. André’s vibrant life began in a culturally rich environment that shaped his

values and character.
In the fall of 1982, he and his family migrated to the United States to pursue better opportunities, which signified their aspirations for a brighter future. The family eventually settled in Pownal, Maine where André attended Pownal Elementary School. Following his graduation from Greely High School (Class of ‘96), André spent his adulthood in Portland (you would definitely see him around) before making his home in Westbrook. André lived life to the fullest — you could catch him skateboarding around Portland, snowboarding at Sunday River, camping and boating in Jay, checking out every brewery, and attending all the sporting events, concerts, and festivals in the area.
André is deeply mourned by his loving wife, Leah, and his sons, Rylan, Camden, and Julien, who were the pride of his life and the source of his unwavering joy. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Hervin and Lena McKay, who instilled in him the importance of family, love, and perseverance. André leaves behind his siblings, Cary (Yvonne), Marvin, Yolande “Georgie” (Paul), and Danica (Ornell), all of whom shared countless memories and adventures that defined their close-knit family dynamic. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Steven James McKay, whose loss left an indelible mark on André’s heart.
In addition to his immediate family, André is survived by a wide circle of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of long-time friends who will never forget his kindness, laughter, and impact on their lives.
A celebration of life in honor of André will be held at noon on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the American Legion Post located at 15 Lewiston Road, Gray, Maine. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to come together and share their memories, paying tribute to a man whose life was characterized by love, strength, and unwavering support for those around him.
