Thomas Cardona

PORTLAND – Thomas Cardona, 61. passed away peacefully at home in Portland on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born on July 31, 1963, in Portland to Vincent and Lorraine Cardona.

Tom worked for over 40 years at waste water treatment plants in Portland, Berwick, York, and Wells. Outside of work Tom enjoyed many things, especially playing cards, fishing, swimming, music, and being with his friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Lorraine; his brothers Larry and Michael, brother-in-law Arvid Magno; and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his daughters, Lena Cardona, Natasha Grover, Rachel Cardona, and Karrie Cardona; sisters, Linda Cardona and Frank Welch, Jr., Carol and Robert Bellanceau, Mary Magno, Pamela and Festus Day, Paula Cardona and Hope Simmons, Angela Cardona, Rose and Thomas Sheehan, Susan and Robert Carlista; brothers, Daniel Cardona and Dora Cardona, Vincent Cardona; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will remember Tom for his bravery while fighting his illness. He was strong, courageous; a true inspiration. He’ll also be remembered for his many words of wisdom along the way. A favorite was, “Life is Good….as long as you don’t weaken”.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
