Second-period goals by Sebastian Vidmar and Brooklyn Kalmikov started the Maine Mariners on their way to a 4-1 win over the Trois-Rivières Lions in an ECHL game Friday night at Cross Insurance Arena.

Vidmar tied the game with a power-play goal at 14:34 of the second period, and Kalmikov got the go-ahead goal at 18:20.

Kalmikov, who also had an assist, became the fourth player in team history to reach 100 career points.

Xander Lamppa and Linus Helmstrom scored just 39 seconds apart in the third period to make it 4-1.

Mariners goalie Nolan Meier stopped 19 shots.

The loss pushed the Mariners to the brink of playoff elimination. Maine is 10 points behind Worcester for fourth place in the North Division with five games remaining.

Sebastian Vidmar tallied a power-play goal and a short-handed goal for the Mariners after assisting on Robert Cronin’s first-period goal. Zachary Massicotte scored Maine’s final goal.
