Charles I. Gemmell

VENICE, Fla. – Charles I. Gemmell passed away peacefully in Venice Florida on Nov. 18, 2025. He was the son of Arthur and Susie (Berry) Gemmell.

Born in 1937, Charles left behind his loving wife Virginia (Caron) Gemmell. They shared 68 years of marriage and were blessed with five children; Charles Gemmell, Jr., wife Paula; Karen Calabrese, husband Ed, Douglas Gemmell, wife Michele; Stephen Gemmell, wife Connie and Jennifer Morin, husband Stephen. He is survived by one sister, Lily Charles. He also had 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, each of whom brought him happiness.

Charles graduated from Westbrook High in 1955 and then served four years in the Navy. Charles went on to work at the S.D. Warren (SAPPI) paper mill for 36 years as a supervisor in the coating department, where he was known as a hard worker and a person with great kindness.

Charles loved music, dancing, traveling, reading, and shopping. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

A celebration of his life will be held at Dolby, Blais, & Segee Funeral home in Westbrook, on December 5, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor this remarkable man who touched so many lives.
