TUCSON, Ariz. – Steve Daigle passed away on Nov. 12, 2025, after a long illness. He was born in Gardiner, to Barbara and Renau Daigle.

Steve graduated from Hall Dale High School in Farmingdale, in 1969 followed by graduation from the University of Maine – Orono in 1973 with a degree in Education, emphasis chemistry. He then completed requirements for Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Southern Maine.

Steve often reminisced about his time at the University of Maine. He was named to the Senior Skull Society, an American collegiate senior honor society where membership is the highest all-inclusive honor at the university. The Skulls are guided by five core values: Friendship, Leadership, Obligation, Academics and Dignity, and Steve lived up to each of these values. He was also a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. His “brothers” were very important to him, and over the years they gathered for weddings and social events, renewing their bonds of friendship and reminiscing about their days in college.

Steve taught chemistry at Westbrook High School in Westbrook, for 30 years. During his tenure he developed their advanced placement curriculum for chemistry, and he was very proud of how well his students did. He always challenged his students to think. After teaching at the high school level, he continued his educator profession as an adjunct professor at the local colleges.

Steve’s extended family was in the construction business. From a young age he learned the basics of house construction and put this knowledge to good use. During his evenings, weekends, and summers he managed to build in part two home and the entirety of two other homes.

In 1980 Steve married fellow teacher Arlene Rhodes, thus beginning their 45-year adventure. They traveled the country in a VW bus seeing as many National Parks as their summer vacations would allow. They hiked the 48 4,000-foot peaks in New Hampshire. The also biked in France twice and did much, much more over the four-plus decades they were married.

After successful careers, Steve and Arlene retired for a time in Georgetown Texas, Aurora Colorado, and finally in SaddleBrooke, Arizona where Steve enjoyed his passion for golf and duplicate bridge.

At Steve’s request, no memorial service is planned.
