Jane Elizabeth Heath
PORTLAND – Jane Elizabeth Heath, 67, passed away on Nov. 21, 2025, at The Barron Center in Portland, Maine, after a long illness.
She was born in Bangor, Maine on Nov. 3, 1958, the daughter of the late John and Jean (Harriss) Heath. After graduating from Hampden Academy, Jane went on to study at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and the University of Maine. She worked as the Director of Human Resources for DeLorme Mapping during its formative years and then later at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor.
Jane wore many hats. She was a notary and officiated many weddings. She made the best carrot cake and baked many for the weddings of family and friends. At one point, she ran her own catering business.
Jane loved to travel when she was young and toured western Europe and the western US. She was a master knitter and was known for making beautiful blankets for the newborns of family, friends, and acquaintances. Jane will be remembered for her kind heart and laughter.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Jean Heath. Jane is survived by her sisters, Ellen Heath, Anne Stuart (John), and Margaret Carignan (Rob), and by her brother, Richard Heath (Barbara). She is also survived by her Aunt Anne; a number of cousins; nieces, nephews, their children; and very special friends.
At Jane’s request a celebration of life will be held next spring on a date to be determined. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Bar Harbor.
Her family would especially like to thank the staff at the Barron Center, and the many friends she made there, for making Jane’s last year’s happy and comfortable.
