Rosemary (Mangano) Murphy
FREEPORT – Rosemary (Mangano) Murphy, 85, of Freeport, died Nov. 22, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Green Hills, Ohio, she grew up between her brother, Frank and her sister, Judy. After graduating from Mercy School of Nursing, Rosemary left for Boston, Mass. with three friends – an adventurous move for a young woman in 1961. Working as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, she met medical student Ken Murphy, who was immediately drawn to her lighthearted spirit and gift for seeing the best in everyone. They married after three years and eventually settled in Chelmsford, Mass.
Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She raised her children, Kim, Kenny, and Mike, with unwavering support, attending every game, concert, and performance, and hosting joyful Christmas celebrations for decades. She led Girl Scout troops, volunteered at the Perkins School for the Blind, earned a bachelor’s in English from Northeastern University, and later excelled as office manager at Merrimack Valley Cardiology.
After retiring to Freeport, Rosemary embraced community life, enjoying bridge, book clubs, volunteering, and golf. She delighted in her grandchildren and their many activities.
Rosemary is survived by Ken; her children; and grandchildren.
There will be a celebration in Rosemary’s honor this spring. Please visit http://www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to view the full obituary, leave condolences for the Murphy family and share a memory of Rosemary.
