Richard W. “Rick” Snell

SCARBOROUGH – Richard W. “Rick” Snell, 75, passed away on Nov. 26, 2025. He was born March 4, 1950, in Whitman, Massachusetts, the son of Clifford F. and Bernice (Pike) Snell.

Rick was a 1968 graduate of Hanover High School, where he played football and saxophone in the marching band. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Bridgewater State College in 1984. He served in the U.S. Navy in communications and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Rick went on to work in communications at the Naval Air Station in South Weymouth and later as a computer specialist for the Department of the Navy at Supship in Bath, Maine. Rick was active in his community, serving as a Deacon and Vice President of the First Congregational Church of Christ in Wiscasset, and as a Selectman for the town of Woolwich. He enjoyed drag racing and watching football.

He was predeceased by his parents. Rick is survived by his wife, Suanne; his children, Rachel, Sarah, Adam, and Jared; his sister, Kathy O’Brien, and her family; and his brother, John Snell, and his family. In his last months, the staff at Cape Memory Care and Gentiva Hospice cared for Rick. His family is endlessly appreciative of their professionalism and compassion.

A service will be held Saturday, December 6, at 11 a.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route 1, Scarborough.

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Memory Disorder Division at Massachusetts General Hospital or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
