Harry M. Doughty
PHIPPSBURG – Harry M. Doughty, 86, of Phippsburg, passed away at his home on Dec. 11, 2025. Born on Feb. 1, 1939, in Phippsburg, Pa. to Ralph F. and Mildred Doughty. He graduated from Morse High School in 1958. He was a devoted husband to Carol Wyman Doughty and a loving father to Ralph Curtis, Bethany Emma, and Lynda-Ada.
Dad was hard-working, dedicated, and a proud veteran. He served in the army from 1962 to 1964. He worked for the Town of Phippsburg for over 70 years, in which 27 years he was Road Commissioner, after his father. He carried on with his father’s business, and it became Harry Doughty & Son Excavating where he continued to work with his family before his passing.
Dad loved our mother, us kids, and his grandkids unconditionally. A kid at heart who loved what he did every day, and all who shared in making memories with him. He enjoyed working in the community he grew up in.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Wyman Doughty; his son, Ralph Curtis (Kim), his daughters Bethany (Troy) and Lynda-Ada (Jay); and his four loving grandchildren, Aaron, Nicholas, Sierra and Brady. He is also survived by his brother, Stanley, sister, Joan; uncle Henry. He has many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family that he cared for.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Ralph and Mildred; and sister, Helena.
A funeral service will be held on Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. at Phippsburg School. He will be buried at Morningside Cemetery.
