Silas A. Cummings

SCARBOROUGH – Silas A. Cummings, 86, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Dec. 17, 2025, at Cape Memory Care.

He was born in Houlton on Oct. 5, 1939, a son of the late Donald and Elsie (Sweet) Cummings and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1958. He later attended classes at DeVry College in Chicago, Ill.

Silas owned and operated a TV repair business named Cummings TV & Electronics. He was also an independent contractor for Mainely Tubs.

He will always be remembered for the enjoyment he had hunting, fishing, collecting, being with his family and his cats – especially Danika.

“Si” was a member of the former Gov. William King Masonic Lodge #219, the Order of the Eastern Star, Royal Arch Chapter, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was also a longtime member of Eastpoint Christian Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Amero) Cummings; children, Robert Cummings of Shapleigh and Ginger Rae Cummings of Shapleigh; his special sister-in-law, Teresa Amero; grandchildren, Jeremiah Jacek, Jasmine Jenkins, Troy Cummings, and Harold Cummings; nieces Kelly Talmach and Lori Nickerson; stepchildren, Stan Shaw of Key West, Fla., and Shawn Shaw and his wife Patty of Arundel; step-granddaughters, Bayley and Eden Shaw; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Hannah; and his brother, John Cummings.

A memorial service to celebrate Silas’ life will be held on Saturday Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at Eastpoint Christian Church, 345 Clark’s Pond Parkway, South Portland.

Si’s family encourages everyone to wear casual and colorful clothing to honor him.
