Seth D. Emmons Sr.
ALFRED – Seth D. Emmons Sr., 76, a resident of Alfred and former longtime resident of Brown Street in Kennebunk, passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2026, at his home in Alfred, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 16, 1949, in Biddeford, Seth was the son of the late Seth I. and Carrie A. (Nutter) Emmons. He graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1967 and later attended trade school in Boston, Mass.
Seth enjoyed a 40-year career in the greenhouse and florist business. A second-generation owner of Brown Street Florist in Kennebunk, he and Kathy owned and operated the business until early 2000, when it was time to retire.
Seth loved dogs, enjoyed tinkering on small engines throughout his life, and he liked to spend time with his family at Kennebunk Pond. Most mornings, he could be found shooting the bull at Dunk’s in Kennebunk with John Burrows and their friends. Seth was known for his larger-than-life personality and his unfailing sense of humor.
Seth is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathleen Emmons of Alfred; his son, Seth Emmons Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Dayton, his daughters Kristy Gott and her significant other, Michael Chabot, of Lebanon, and Kelly Maddox and her husband, Jeremy, of Sanford; his grandchildren, Joel Gott Jr., Angie Janiak, Korrine Nichols, Garrett Nichols, Casey Maddox, Danielle Emmons, and Seth Emmons; and four great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will take place in the spring at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.

As a florist, he hated the line “In lieu of flowers”, however, he would be fine if you wished to make a memorial donation to the
