Hattie Clark made a runner along the baseline with 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, then scored four of her team’s nine points in overtime as Westbrook earned a 45-38 win over Scarborough in a Class A South girls basketball game Saturday in Scarborough.
Clark finished with 16 points and Emma Boulette scored 13 for Westbrook (9-7), which likely secured a home game in the preliminary round of the regional tournament.
Scarborough (7-9) was paced by Eva Alvarez with 14 points and Ella Herzberg with 10.
BOYS BASKETBALL
BREWER 50, OXFORD HILLS 48: Caleb Campbell scored 24 points as the Witches (6-10) secured a win over the Vikings (4-12) in Brewer.
Oli Higgins added 12 for Brewer, which outscored Oxford Hill 10-7 in the fourth quarter.
Cam Pulkkinen led the Vikings with 18 points. Jack Stack scored 12 and Carson Stevens had 11.
YORK 72, POLAND 57: Reece MacDonald scored 24 points, Callan Forbes added 18, and the Wildcats pulled away in the second half against the Knights (11-6) in York.
Robbie Hanscom chipped in with 12 points for York, which outscored Poland 45-29 after halftime.
Nick Jamo led Poland with 13 points, followed by Shawn West with 11 and Damon Martin and Lucas Verrill with 10 each.
WESTBROOK 60, SCARBOROUGH 53: Gio Staples scored 24 points as the Blue Blazes (11-5) defeated the Red Storm (10-6) in Westbrook.
The hosts also got 11 points from John Cubahiro and 10 from Faiz Omar.
Adam Fitzgerald tossed in 18 points, with four 3-pointers, and Layton Garriepy had 12 points for Scarborough.
BOYS HOCKEY
LEWISTON CO-OP 4, CHEVERUS/YARMOUTH 1: Aizyk Laliberte scored twice for Lewiston/Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse (9-3-1) in a win over Cheverus/Yarmouth (7-5) at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Parker Crafts and Lawson Mayer also scored for the Blue Devils, who were ranked No. 4 in the latest Varsity Maine Top 5.
Third-ranked Cheverus/Yarmouth scored with 21 seconds remaining in the game.
CAMDEN HILLS 9, PRESQUE ISLE CO-OP 0: Bowden Trzaska and Bridger Witbeck each recorded a hat trick for the Windjammers (8-4) in a win over Presque Isle/Caribou/Central Aroostook/Wisdom at the Forum in Presque Isle.
Blake Christie chipped in with a goal and two assists. Ewan Howard notched a goal and an assist, Bryson Hise also scored, and Quinn Hoppin made 14 saves for the shutout.
YORK CO-OP 4, KENNEBUNK/WELLS 2: Brett Aceto scored two of York/Biddeford/Old Orchard Beach’s four third-period goals in a win over the Rams at Dover, New Hampshire.
Henry Ober and Levi Bernard got the other goals for the York co-op (9-2). Joshua Neal assisted on two goals, and Connor Thibault made 19 saves.
Dylan Page scored twice in the first stanza period for Kennebunk/Wells (8-4-1), which got 20 saves from Richard Pocius.
GIRLS HOCKEY
YORK CO-OP 4, LEWISTON CO-OP 1: Phebe Schroeck and Cheyanne Deeney each netted two goals for York/Traip/Marshwood/Noble (5-13) in a win over
Lewiston/Lisbon/Monmouth/Morse/Mt. Ararat/Oak Hill (2-16) at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Schroeck added two assists and Hadley Larson recorded three assists.
Emma Berube scored for the Blue Devils.
CHEVERUS CO-OP 5, BIDDEFORD CO-OP 1: Joey Pompeo scored four goals as the Stags (13-3-2) clinched the No. 1 seed in the South playoffs by defeating Biddeford/Thornton Academy/Kennebunk/Wells (13-5) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.
Briella Doherty got the other goal for the three-time defending state champions, who are ranked third in the Varsity Maine Top 5. The Biddeford co-op is ranked fourth.
EDWARD LITTLE CO-OP 5, GORHAM CO-OP 0: Kylie Dulac recorded a hat trick and Khloe Nadeau scored twice as Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills (17-1) ended its regular season with a win over Gorham/Bonny Eagle/Massabesic/Westbrook/Fryeburg (10-8) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Leksi Langevin was credited with two assists. Paige Fecteau made 34 saves for the shutout.
Celina Doucette stopped 15 shots for the Rams.
PENOBSCOT 3, GREELY/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Izzy Brideau, Ella Davis and Ashlyn Dearborn scored for the Pioneers (8-9-1) in a win over the Rangers (2-16) at Family Ice Center in Falmouth.
Abbie Derosier earned the shutout.
YARMOUTH/FREEPORT 4, BRUNSWICK 2: Adelaide Strout scored two goals and added an assist for the Clippers (14-2-2) in a win over the Dragons (9-9) at Travis Roy Arena in Yarmouth.
Maya Nasveschuk contributed a goal and an assist, and Erin O’Connor also scored. Winning goalie Lydia Costa made 19 saves.
Solveig Ledwick and Gillian Countway scored for Brunswick, while Hensleigh LaBonte turned aside 29 shots.
